Reyes, a student of the Paraguayan guitarist-composer Augustin Barrios, in
Oakland, California. After high school, serious study was interrupted by
the Viet-Nam war where I served in the Marine Corps, earning two purple
hearts and a diploma in Vietnamese Language from the After two very enjoyable years of professional performing, I again became eager to resume study of my instrument, and so moved to Spain. I studied with Narciso Yepes in Madrid and later in Paris. In 1975 I left Spain with the idea of finishing my formal music education. I completed my degree in Guitar Performance at the New England Conservatory in 1980. In 1981 I was chosen to represent this country in a concert series in Spain and given a Cultural Exchange Grant --- by joint agreement of the United States and Spanish Embassies. In the Boston area, in addition to teaching guitar, I have been active
as a soloist, giving performances for the City of Boston (Mayor's Office
of Cultural Affairs); Harvard I have also performed in conjunction with Ramon De Los Reyes (flamenco) Dance Company (Berkley Performance Center, New England Life Hall)", the New England Conservatory Chamber Singers (Lute songs at Faneuil Hall); featured soloist with the New Life Symphony Orchestra (Lisa Taillacq, conducting); and have given numerous recitals with my wife, Patricia G. Anthony, flutist (as the Anthony Duo).
